  • Motivate yourself with strong reasons to stop smoking, for example for health, family or the environment.
  • Stop smoking immediately or completely, or reduce the number of cigarettes smoked gradually.
  • Identify the times and situations where you smoke most often, and find ways to avoid or replace the habit.
  • Resist the urge to smoke by delaying it, distracting yourself, or replacing the cigarette with candy, gum, or something else you can chew.
  • Exercise regularly to improve body and mind health, and reduce stress
